About
Lisa is a freelance photographer based in Tehachapi, California.

Born in California but raised in a small rural town in Northern Jersey,
she graduated with honors from Syracuse University with a BFA in
photography. Other studies included psychology, philosophy,
printmaking, art history, literature, figure drawing, film, painting, and
illustration; all of which influence the tenor of her work.

Enjoying the experience of living in different cities, she eventually
landed in San Francisco, where she worked for many years at
small-boutique professional photographic labs. In a community of
photographic artists, she learned the craft of high-end custom
photographic printing and eventually specialized in black & white fiber
printing. Always striving to master her technique, and adept at
collaborating with artists and commercial photographers, she
received various printing credits from many exhibiting artists in San
Francisco. Shortly before leaving San Francisco she worked on a
project for Mark Leong, printing about 100 photographs for his book
China Obscura (Chronicle Books, 2004). Lisa received a “thank you”
credit in the Acknowledgments of the book. During her years in San
Francisco, she worked on different portfolios of personal work,
including B & W studio and location portraiture, as well as dog
portraits, especially sighthounds. She participated in various single
and group shows and also accepted commissioned portrait and
wedding projects. Lisa also contributed time and skills to different
non-profit community arts organizations.

Currently residing in beautiful Tehachapi, she is at home in the
graphic and quiet landscape of the Southern California high desert.
She recently switched to digital photography.
An affinity for the work
of other photographers, including Irving Penn, Edward S Curtis,
Richard Avedon, Sally Mann, Danny Lyon, and Annie Liebovitz,
continues to inspire her. She favors a simple storytelling style of
photographing real people, documenting events and the natural world
around her.
